Apple Tart with Filling

Recipe Description

Recipe Ingredients

Pastry
2 cups flour
4 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
½ lb. butter or margarine
2 egg yolks
bread crumbs

Instructions

Mix flour, sugar, and salt together. Cut in butter until size of peas. Beat egg yolks and mix well into flour. Pat crust into one large deep fluted pan or two smaller (8 inch) spring form pans. Sprinkle with bread crumbs and small amount of sugar. Refrigerate. Filling 3 lbs. apples, pared, cored and sliced 5 tablespoons flour ¼ teaspoon cinnamon ½ teaspoon allspice ½ teaspoon nutmeg 1 cup sugar 3 tablespoons butter, melted 1/3 cup dark corn syrup Combine all ingredients in skillet and cook over low heat uncovered, for 15 to 20 minutes or until apples are barely tender. Pour apple mixture into prepared crust. Distribute topping over the top. Bake at 400° for about 30 minutes. Topping: ½ cup brown sugar, ½ cup flour and 4 tablespoons butter. Mix until blended.
