Barbecued Short Ribs

Recipe Description

Recipe Ingredients

2 ½ to 3 lbs. Short ribs
2 teaspoons salt
1/3 cup flour
2 tablespoons fat
1 cup sliced onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 cup hot water
½ cup ketchup
1 bay leaf
¼ cup cider vinegar
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
1 tablespoon brown sugar
¼ cup water

Instructions

Cut ribs into individual servings; removing excess fat. Blend together 1 teaspoon salt and the flour; roll meat in mixture and save leftover mixture. Brown meat in fat in large skillet, then remove to heavy pan. Add onion and garlic to fat in skillet; cook until onion is tender but not brown. Add to the meat. Combine 1 teaspoon salt and remaining ingredients except the ¼ cup water, and add to ribs. Simmer until tender, 2 to 2 ½ hours. Remove ribs to serving platter; keep warm. Make a paste of 2 tablespoons of reserved flour mixture and the ¼ cup water. Stir rapidly into pan liquids. Serve with the ribs.
