Challah Fast & Easy

Recipe Description

Recipe Ingredients

12 cups flour
1 yeast cake or dry yeast package
3 eggs
¾ cup oil
¾ cup sugar
3 cups warm water (use tap water)
1 teaspoon salt (can be omitted on salt free diet)
1 egg
1 teaspoon sugar

Instructions

Put flour into a large bowl and make a well. Add yeast and enough warm water, about 1 cup, to make a paste. Mix well, add sugar and mix, add eggs and mix well; add oil and mix, add remaining warm water and mix. Use hands to mix and kneed. Let rise until double in bulk (approximately 2 hours) in a warm spot. Reknead and let rise again. Reknead and make into challahs or rolls. This recipe will make3 loaf challahs or 36 rolls. Usually make with braids. Let rise. Using a pastry brush paint bread or rolls with a mixture of 1 egg plus 1 teaspoon of sugar, beaten. Bake at 325° for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
