Chocolate Chiffon Pie

Recipe Description

Recipe Ingredients

1 enveloper plain gelatin
½ cup strong coffee
6 oz. package semi-sweet chocolate bits
4 eggs, separated
½ cup sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

Soften gelatin in ¼ cup cold water for 5 minutes. Heat coffee and chocolate together until chocolate melts, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, add gelatin and stir until dissolved. Beat egg yolks thoroughly and add with ¼ cup sugar, salt and vanilla to chocolate mixture. Mix well. Chill until slightly thickened. Beat egg whites until foamy; gradually add ¼ cup sugar and beat until stiff. Fold into chocolate mixture. Pile lightly in baked 10 inch pie shell. Chill until firm.
