Chocolate Town Special Cake

Recipe Ingredients

1 1/3 cups sugar
2/3 cup butter or margarine
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 ½ cups sifted flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 cups buttermilk
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
½ cup boiling water

Instructions

Sift together flour, soda and salt. Make a paste of cocoa and boiling water; set aside to cool. Cream sugar and butter well; add eggs, one at a time and beat well. Add vanilla and cocoa paste; beat. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Bake in 2 greased and floured 9 inch layer pans (or 3 eight inch) at 350°about 35 minutes. Cool. Fill and frost as desired.
