Danish Beef Stew

Recipe Description

Recipe Ingredients

2 lbs beef-cut in 1 inch cubes
2 tablespoons oil
2 carrots, sliced and quartered
1 teaspoon salt
1 large onion, sliced
1 stalk celery, diced
½ cup red wine
2 cups water
1 tablespoon brown sugar

Instructions

Brown beef on all sides in a large skillet in oil. Remove. Add onion and cook over medium heat until lightly brown. Add meat and rest of ingredients. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer gently for 1 ½ to 2 hours. Serves 4 to 6. Freezes well.
