Graham Cracker Cake

Recipe Description

Recipe Ingredients

½ cup shortening
1 ¾ cups graham cracker crumbs
½ cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
3 eggs, separated ¾ cup milk
½ cup chopped nuts
1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

Cream ½ cup shortening with 1 cup sugar. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat 3 egg yolks, add and mix thoroughly. Add part of cracker crumbs and part of ¾ cup of milk. Add rest of crumbs and milk and dry ingredients. Beat until smooth. Stir in ½ cup chopped nuts. Fold in 3 beaten egg whites. Grease and flour two 8 or 9 inch layer pans. Bake at 375° for 25to 30 minutes. Frost with lemon icing.
