Kreplach

Recipe Description

Recipe Ingredients

Dough:
2 eggs
1 ½ cups flour
¼ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons water
Filling:
1 1/14 lb. cooked beef
salt and pepper to taste
1 small onion, fried
1 egg

Instructions

Put meat through food chopper. Add fried onion, egg, salt and pepper to taste. To make dough: mix the eggs, salt, flour andwater. Knead until elastic. Roll out thin and cut the sheet of dough into two inch squares. Place a spoonful of meat in the center of each square, fold one corner over diagonally to form a triangle and press the edges firmly together. Work quickly or the dough will become to dry. Allow the kreplach to stand for about 10 minutes, then drop them into boiling salted water and cook half an hour. Remove from water and add to soup. To use as an hors d’oeuvre: place on greased cookie sheet; brush with melted chicken fat or margarine. Heat at 375° for 15 minutes, or until browned.
