Recipe Description

Recipe Ingredients

¾ cup butter or margarine
3 ¾ tablespoons sugar
4 beaten egg yolks
2 ¼ cups sifted flour
1 small jar preserves (except grape)
Meringue:
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ cup chopped nuts
4 egg white
1 cup sugar

Instructions

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks, then flour. Pat into a 15 X 10 X 2 inch pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350°. Coll. Beat egg whites until foamy, slowly add 1 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until stiff. Put preserves on baked crust, spread with meringue, sprinkle with chopped nuts. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes or until light brown. Cool slightly. Cut with a damp knife. Makes 96 pieces
