Marble Pound Cake

Recipe Ingredients
Preheat oven to 375°. Grease a 10 inch tube or bundt pan.
2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
¾ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 6 ounce package semisweet chocolate bits
2 ¼ teaspoons double acting baking powder
1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
1 cup margarine or butter
4 eggs
Instructions
Sift flour, baking powder and salt into large bowl. Add sugar, milk, shortening and vanilla. Then with mixer at medium speed, beat mixture for 2 minutes. Add eggs, beat 2 minutes longer. Pour half of batter into another bowl. Melt chocolate bits over hot water and add to half of the mixture. In tube pan alternate spoonfuls of plain and chocolate batter. Then duct through batter with spatula to make marble effect. Bake at 375° for 55 to 60 minutes, test to be sure it’s done. Let cool for 15 minutes before removing.
Walnut pound cake; do not use chocolate bits and sprinkle 1 cup walnuts into greased pan. Pour batter in and bake as above. Walnuts may also be added to marble pound cake.
