Meat Rolled in Cabbage

Recipe Description

Recipe Ingredients

1 green cabbage, large leaves
Place in pot of water and boil 5 minutes. Remove from water and separate leaves.
Filling:
1 pound ground meat
1 medium onion
1 small potato
½ cup water
½ cup uncooked rice
salt and pepper to taste
1 (1pound) can tomatoes
1 large onion
2 tablespoons fat
½ cup sugar

Instructions

Place meat in chopping bowl. Grate medium onion and potato. Add rice, water and seasonings. Chop well. Place 1 tablespoon meat mixture on a cabbage leaf and roll up loosely so as to allow for swelling of the rice. Tuck in ends of cabbage. Fry the large onion in fat. Add tomatoes and salt to taste. Bring to boil, place cabbage rolls in tomato mixture and cook covered for 1 ¼ hours. Remove cover, add sugar and continue cooking for ½ hour.
