Passover Date & Nut Cookies with Meringue

½ pound dates in pieces
1 cup walnut meats
whites of 4 eggs
1 ½ cup sugar
pinch of salt
Instructions
Beat whites of eggs very stiff; add salt and sugar and beat until very light. Add dates and nuts (cut, not chopped). Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 300° for 25 to 30 minutes. Remove cookies immediately.
