Shoulder Steak Sauerbraten

1 ½ to 2 lbs shoulder steak
2 tablespoons fat
1 envelope brown gravy
2 cups water
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
1 tablespoon instant onion
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
½ teaspoon ginger
Instructions
Cut meat into 1 ½ inch squares. In large skillet, brown meat on all sides in hot fat, browning well is important. Add gravy mix and water, bring to boiling point, stirring constantly. Stir in remaining ingredients. Return meat to skillet, cover and simmer 1 ½ to 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Remove bay leaf. Serve over noodles or fluffy rice.
