Sour Cream Chocolate Cake

Recipe Description

Recipe Ingredients

3 squares unsweetened chocolate or ¾ cup cocoa
1 cup boiling water
¼ lb. butter
2 beaten eggs
2 cups sugar
2cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ cup sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Combine boiling water, chocolate and butter (mix with wooden spoon). When chocolate and butter are melted, add sugar and beaten eggs. Mix in dry ingredients and beat vigorously. Mix in sour cream and vanilla. Batter should be loose. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake in preheated oven at 350° for 40 to 60 minutes.
