Split Pea, Bean & Vegetable Soup

Recipe Description

Recipe Ingredients

6 to 8 marrow and meat bones
1 lb. meat, if desired
1 large whole onion
2 to 3 carrots, diced
4 quarts water
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
3 stalks celery, diced
1 cup dried green peas
1 cup dried yellow peas
½ cup lima beans, dried
¼ lb. mushrooms
Optional: ¼ lb. diced string beans zucchini, diced

Instructions

Put bones, meat, onion, salt and pepper into water. Bring to a boil. Skim the top. Add al the remaining ingredients. Cook for three hours or longer. Stir frequently. Freezes well.
