Sweet & Sour Meatballs
Recipe Description
Recipe Ingredients
Meatballs:
1 lb. ground beef
1 tablespoon instant rice
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons grated onion
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
¼ teaspoon paprika
Combine all ingredients. Form into balls and drop into simmering sauce.
Cook about 1¼ hours. Sliced carrots and cut up cabbage may be added at
the same time.
Sauce:
2 tablespoons fat
1 onion diced
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon paprika
2 8 oz. cans tomato sauce
dash pepper
½ cup hot water
¼ to ½ cup sugar
¼ cup lemon juice
Sauté onion in fat, add rest of ingredients. For low sodium diets,
omit salt and use dietetic tomatoes in place of the tomato sauce.
