Thumbprint Cookies

Recipe Description

Recipe Ingredients

½ cup butter
¼ cup brown sugar
1 egg, separated
½ teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour
¼ teaspoon salt
¾ cup chopped nuts or ¾ cup crushed cornflakes
preserves or jelly

Instructions

Mix butter, sugar, egg yolk and vanilla. Stir in flour and salt. Roll into balls. Beat egg white slightly (use fork). Dip balls in egg white and then roll in nuts r cornflakes. Put on ungreased cookie sheet and press in middle with thumb. Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes. After cooled, put jelly or preserves in center.
